Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP)
~Crisis and Regular Assistance: Provides assistance to households with extremely high utility costs.
Assistance is provided as funds become available.
Outreach
~Provides transportation to purchase food, medicine and health related services
to low income and elderly persons.
~Maintains one outreach worker per county served.
Emergency Aid
~One time assistance in utilities, rent or prescriptions.
~Funded through local donations.
Food Bank
~Guidelines: Based on HHS Poverty Income Guidelines.
~Referrals: From other Service Providers and emergency situations.
Commodities
~Distribution of government surplus food when available.
Federal Emergency Management Assistance (FEMA)
~One-time assistance in utilities and/or rent.
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)
~Program designed to provide assistance to low-income, elderly and disabled.
Housing
~Weatherization
~Home Rehabilitation
Case Management
~Assists persons in ways to conserve on utility bills, learn to budget their income
and improve their quality of life.
Video Loan Program
~Provides educational materials in the areas of Drug/Alcohol, Health Education,
Nutrition and STD/AIDS on a regular basis to 25 schools.
